Located in the centre of Abu Dhabi’s main island, Mushrif Park was originally opened in 1982 to serve as a residential park for ladies and children. Now it is recognised that many of its attractions and facilities need to be updated and refreshed.
H.E. Ahmed D. Dagher Al Marar, Vice Chairman of Al Ain Group, holding company of Seba Properties stated-
“We are honoured to be given the opportunity of revitalising this park. Mushrif Central Park will become a focal point for all of the community to experience and enjoy. It will be seen as a safe and secure destination, but also inviting and inspiring, offering something for everyone to appreciate, experience and enjoy. It will be truly, a People’s Park.”
Set among 14 hectares of tranquil landscaped informal and formal gardens, alongside tree-lined promenades, Mushrif Central Park will feature many new attractions and facilities, including an interactive Children’s Museum and Petting Zoo. Water features and fountains abound throughout, while over 3km of walking and jogging trails traverse the Park.
For horticulturists or those who just enjoy flora and fauna, there will be a Botanic Garden and Shade House to enjoy, while Abu Dhabi’s arts and cultural heritage will be nurtured through the Performing Arts Centre and Sculpture Garden, all located within the Park.
Sustainability is at the heart of the Park’s design with plans already in place to ensure that over 250 existing broadleaf and palm trees, that are over 25 years old, will be removed from the site, stored and replanted in the redeveloped park. Over 10% of the overall park will be re-vegetated with indigenous and naturalised species and reclaimed grey water will save up to 40% of consumption.
Every aspect of the Park is designed to connect, educate and enrich the lives of all those who visit the park, while also having fun. The sheer size and symmetry of Mushrif Central Park allows for endless exploration and investigation. Connecting people through the environment and landscape, Mushrif Central Park will become an integral part of people’s lives.
The new masterplan for Mushrif Central Park has been prepared by one of the leading international landscape designers ValleyCrest Design Group. Detailed plans will be unveiled by Seba Properties at the Mushrif Central Park stand (stand 8A20) during Cityscape Abu Dhabi, 18-21 April 2010 at ADNEC. A model of the revitalised park and an animated fly-through will be on display, with more information available about the project.
